One Ton Cup - IC45 World Championship - K Challenge One wins One Ton Cup |
SAINT TROPEZ, FRA-(12-10-2002) So here we are after all the deliberations of the jury : K-Challenge One wins the 2002 One Ton Cup. It's an incredibly happy team who received the famous trophy yesterday evening, in the presence of the Yacht Club de Saint-Tropez, Le Cercle de la Voile de Paris, and the representative of the Mayor of the city of Saint-Tropez.
As said before, the main criteria of this year's competition is the level that was extremely high, with crews all very motivated.
The K-Challenge One victory is a proof that the project running towards the 2006 America's Cup is on his way to be part of the most famous sailors and teams in the world, as they are starting the match-racing tour next season, a new step in their preparation.
Cavale Bleue and Atalanti X have probably been amongst the most disappointed teams, but they are still positive about all that happened this week in the regattas.
Paul Cayard didn't attend the prize-giving ceremony, but it's a fact that his presence was another factor of motivation for the crews.
The 10kg One Ton Cup trophy has now found a new master, till next year... Let's see who will dream and fight to get it then !
