First day report

Intervela - First day report
RIVA DEL GARDA, ITALY-(13-7-2005) First result for Rafael Trujillo with his Finn, with a third place in the first race and two second places in the other two races. Fonda (Y.C. Adriaco) and Zucchetti leading the 470 rankings, Gian Marco and Filippo Togni of the Circolo Vela Arco first in 420 class.

Such a good effort for Rafa Trujillo (3.1.1), competing as a Champion in this 55th Intervela, the international regatta for Finn, 470 (m/w) and 420. Rafa Trujillo was third in the first race, while the Croatian Marin Misura (1.3.2) won; anyway after some adjustments, the tailer of +39 asserted himself by winning the other two races of today, scoring one point less than the Croatian (5 to 6). Placed third Carlo Kuret (2.2.3), another Croatian, already known for his good results in Eurolymp week 2002, and excellent Finn sailor.

Among 470 Enrico Fonda and Pietro Zucchetti (1.4.1) have the first place in the temporary rankings, followed by the British skipper Paul Brotherton (2.2.2) (they have both 6 points, but Brotherton had worse results today); third the Slovene Karlo Hmeljak (3.3.3), with 9 points.

For what concerns women, for 470, great result for the British Christina Bassadone (2.1.2), followed by the Slovene Teja Cerne (1.2.5); placed third, the French Jean Ingrid Petit (4.5.1). The first Italian crew is the one of Elisabetta Saccheggiani and Myriam Cutolo (7.4.6), sixth absolute place.

Among 420 first places for the crew of the neighbour Circolo Vela Arco, Gian Marco and Filippo Togni (1.1.1), giving a good hope for the final result. Another Italian crew of the Circolo Vela Arco, Michele Maddalo and Francesco Pedrotti (2.4.3), placed second while the third place is for the Austrian skipper David Bargehr (3.5.5) ten points left to the second. Tomorrow three more races are scheduled.
