Pels appeared satisfied with the progress of organisation for this sports event. Race officials and Race Managment Crews have been organised and the race areas have been fixated. Furthermore the new Olympic format that will be tried out for the first time at the ISAF World Sailing Games 2006 was discussed. IOC has suggested that the new format should be designed to be television and audience ‘friendly’. With this new format, only the ten best will take part in the last race. This race will be shorter, non excludable and count for double points, which will extend the circle of medallion candidates. Direct judging will make this format much more exciting and the winner will be outright once the finish line is crossed.

Smith is very enthusiastic at the numerous projects for the ISAF World Sailing Games 2006 and is sure that it will be a very special event. ‘Child care’, the marketing of the environmentally friendly travel ‘Green card’, numerous VIP Packages , all these and more will be enjoyed by both the participants and visitors both on water and on land. Primarily the multimedia concepts from the Technical University Hagenburg, will make sailing transparent to everyone. “The ISAF World Sailing Games 2006 at Lake Neusiedl could set new standards in certain areas for future ISAF events”, says Smith. Races, which can be watched on mobile telephones, large projector screens on shore and on the internet will certainly make ‘Sailing’ even more interesting to watch.

Smith promised the OK Team support from international contacts through the ISAF. Not only the best sailors in the world will attend the World Sailing Games at Lake Neusiedl but also internationally famous sportsmen and high society will attend.
