World Champion Sensini leads the Women’s RS:X with fellow Italian Laura Linares holding second place overall at the end of day one. The Women’s RS:X fleet is a star studded international fleet with representatives from nine nations.

Olga Maslivets of the Ukraine is in third with New Zealand’s Barbara Kendall in fourth place after the three races sailed today.

Julien Bontemps of France has a two point lead over Jon Paul Tobin of New Zealand in the Mens RS:X. Riccardo Belli Dell'Isca of Italy lies third overall.

It’s all tied up at the top in the Lasers with New Zealand’s Andrew Murdoch and Luka Radelic of Croatia on equal points. Radelic had two wins, in races two and three, while Murdoch won the first and then placed 3rd, and 4th.

Youth sailor Josh Junior from Wellington will be happy with his start to the regatta; he has third place overall after day one, in the 44 boat fleet.

The men have the top spots on the Laser Radial leader board on the first day with all 42 Radial sailors sailing in one fleet. In results that demonstrate all the Radial sailors had a mixed day, Luke Deegan of New Zealand came out on top. Deegan has ten points, with Andrew Child (NZL) behind on 15 points, and Andrew Maloney a further three points back in third.

Laura Baldwin is the top placed in the Women’s Laser Radial, sitting in fifth overall in the open event. Miranda Powrie was New Zealand’s top Women’s Radial sailor today, with Sarah Winther (NZL) holding third.

Day one in the 470’s gives indication that the young duo of Carl Evans and Peter Burling (NZL) appear to be mastering the class after graduating from the 420 around one month ago. They kicked off on the opening day of Sinagpore Airlines Sail Auckland with a 2nd and two wins.

Geoff Woolley and Mark Overington (NZL) are seven points behind in second place, and Andrew Brown and Nick Taylor (NZL) are third.

Dan Slater, YNZ Olympic Squad sailor was dominant in the five boat Finn fleet winning all three of today’s races.
