Milan, Italy - 470 Internationale announces the continuation of its Sailors’ Support Programmes with the “2008 Olympic Pathway Solidarity Grant”. The new Programme aims at the support of talented 470 sailors with sailing ambitions and abilities on Olympic levels who find financial or infrastructural obstacles on their way to Olympic Qualification.

Istanbul, Turkey - Alberto PREDIERI from Italy has been elected as the new President of 470 Internationale at the Class’ General Assembly that took place last weekend in Istanbul. PREDIERI will be leading the Class assisted by a strong Management Committee with a two-year mandate in a new structure parallel to a new constitution that was approved by the General Assembly.

470 Worlds starts tomorrow
RIZHAO, CHINA-(6-9-2006) 470 World Championships
Rizhao, China - 470 sailors are all set to start racing tomorrow at the 2006 470 World Championship Men & Women, taking place from the 4th till the 13th of September in Rizhao, China.The opening ceremony took place tonight after registration and measurement got finalized during the last few days. The total number of 147 participating teams from 33 countries sets a new record for a 470 Worlds event taking place outside Europe.
87 teams will start in the Men’s Fleet, 60 in the Women’s Fleet. Racing will start tomorrow at 12.00 am and the event will be concluded by the final Medal Race on the 13th of September.

Tavria, Portugal - The 420 European Championship had a bitter ending for the Portuguese Matos Rosa and Francisco Lacerda. They have ended in 8th on the overall score after being disqualified on the 11th regatta. The Israelites, Amit Brokman and Moshe Appel, won the 420 European Title, and the British, Luke Patience and Twiggy Grube, conquered the 470 gold medal.
