Portoferraio, Italy - It was a great day of late autumnsailing in the fresh scirocco or southerly breeze of 8-14 knots. It wasstill shifty and patchy after dropping down onto the water from themountains of Elba, so the tacticians had to look sharp to stay in phase, butthe shifts were more consistent. Four windward leeward races went off likeclockwork, with the wind ranging from 160 to 175 degrees.

Yesterday's races tightened up the spread with the top three boats only one point apart each but today’s action failed to have any one boat make a big break and move up ahead of the pack on the leader board. Day three of the regatta, North Sails Day, once again featured the top boats with finishes all over the place and still the top two boats Steadfast (CAN) and Printel Wind (ITA) are tied in points for first place with Alina (ITA) only one point behind.

Annapolis, MD - Tropical storm, Isidore, is definitely showing her face today on the Chesapeake Bay. It is very gray today with rain expected on and off all day. The breeze is NE 12-15 knots and building and the water is very confused and choppy with white caps. The Race Committee has again set up the course a half mile north of Thomas Point Light but closer to the western shore than they were yesterday.

Annapolis - After months of preparation, racing has begun in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis, Maryland for the Champagne Mumm 2002 Mumm 30 One Design World Championship. This international event started on Tuesday, September 24th with an opening ceremony on a beautiful evening with colors performed by the Annapolis Yacht Club promptly at sunset where crisply flying flags of the different countries and states represented by the 33 boats competing proved to be a good omen for the start of the racing.
