470 Worlds conclude with thrilling Medal Races
RIZHAO, CHINA-(13-9-2006) 470 World Championships
Rizhao, China - The 470 World Champion Titles for 470 Men and Women were decided today during two thrilling Medal Races. Marcelien DE KONING and Lobke BERKHOUT finally manage to hold their Title and Nathan WILMOT and Malcolm PAGE miss Gold by taking a penalty, handing over the Title to Nic ASHER and Elliot WILLIS.

Rizhao, China - Two races were completed today to finalize the qualification for the Men’s and Women’s Medal Race that will take place tomorrow as the 470 World Championship highlight. In the Men’s Fleet Nathan WILMOT and Malcolm PAGE and Nic ASHER and Elliot WILLIS will feature in the “Grand Final” as sailors with best chances for Gold, while also Croatia and Israel are still in the race for the Championship Title. 470 Women Marcelien DE KONING and Lobke BERKHOUT will have to face double competition from Japan, Ai KONDO and Naoko KAMATA, and Yuka YOSHISAKO and Noriko OKUMA.

Rizhao, China - With only two Medal Race qualifying races to go, the 470 World Championship seems far from being decided in both the Men’s and Women’s Fleet.
During two races today in light winds, the Dutch influence raises at the 470 Men, and drops in the 470 Women’s Fleet. 470 Men Nathan WILMOT and Malcolm PAGE (AUS) take back what they lost yesterday, while Ai KONDO and Naoko KAMATA (JPN) take advantage of the bad scores of their rivals and catch the lead.

Excitement increases as 470 Worlds moves on in first day's finals

Rizhao, China - The first starting signal was given today for the Final series of the 470 World Championships. During six qualifying races the last three days, sailors have decided on positions in the Gold Fleets. Two races were completed today and as the event moves on, excitement increases. Nathan WILMOT and Malcolm PAGE hand over their event leadership to Nic ASHER and Elliot WILLIS, while Marcelien DE KONING and Lobke BERKHOUT retain their lead and win position by the losses of rivals Therese TORGERSSON and Vendela ZACHRISSON.

Rizhao, China - Racing got underway today at the 470 World Championships. In light winds and current playing a key factor, two races were completed. After day 1, Ronan DREANO and Ronan FLOCH (FRA) take first place on the 470 Men’s leaderboard, followed by Gideon KLIGER and Udi GAL (ISR).  In the Women’s Fleet Yuka YOSHISAKO and Noriko OKUMA (JPN) take the lead, with Title defenders Marcelien DE KONING and Lobke BERKHOUT (NED) right on their tail with one point difference.
