| L'ESCALA, SPAIN-(30-3-2004) Today there has been disputed the 4th race of the European with the importance that it validates the Championship.
Under rain conditions, SE wind and strong waves, the racers have been able to take their start at 14:44, after the Jury postponed the first start, warned at 12:00.
The Swedeish Frederik Lööf, even tough he entered in first place he was penalized at the start. When he has arrived Lööf has protested the Race Committee, saying he was not off the line. We will have to wait the Jury's decision to know who will finnally be the the winner of today's race.
The brasilian Torben and the French Rohart have been very close but finnally the Brasilian has provisionally summed (we wait for the Jury's decision) the first victory of the Championship. Torben has shown today his big talent, and showed also that evrything is still to decide.
The French Xavier Rohart keeps regular and obtains the 2nd place. The Spanish have not had much luck and have descended into 15th place. Anyway, it is a good result taking into account that they left behind the Canadian Ross McDonald.
Bermúdez, is satisfied with their result, because the weather conditions of today with a lot of wind and strong waves put the things difficult.
The English Ian Percey and the Australian Colin Beashel have also been penalized to start before the right time and, therefore they can descend in the general classifications. The Italian Francesco Bruni has jumped until 6th position and it will be necessary to see how the results go against Pietro D'Ali.
Bruni, in the interview for the web page of the Club, has explained us that they have still the Worlds in Gaeta to know who is going to the Olympics as an Italian representation. For the moment D'Ali and he are very close, and that makes this European very important for them.
For the moment, the regatta classification of today, as we said, provisional waiting for the Jury's deliberation and if there can be changes.
For tomorrow, last racing day, the weather forecast, offered by `Canal Méteo i Serveis audiovisuals de meteorologia (SAM)` is shown more stable, no rain is predicted. Wind from S, between 10-12 knots.
