470 Internationale Solidarity Programme - Intl 470 Class continuous successful Solidarity Programme
MILAN, ITALY-(8-5-2006) The 470 Internationale, in close co-operation with Olimpic Sails® (Trieste, Italy) as the sole Official Sponsor, announces the “470 Internationale Solidarity Programme” for the 2006 sailing season.

This new programme is an additional one to the other two of the 470 Internationale aiming to support its sailors and National Class Associations and the potential ones (“Junior Female Support Programme”, consisting of two grants of 900,00 Euro each for the two youngest crews of the 470 Junior World Championship, and the “Andrè Cornu Grant” launched last year, in co-operation with the Cornu’s heirs, in memory of the designer of the 470, consisting of two grants of 1.000,00 Euro each to the winning crews of the double-handed dinghy girls and boys of the ISAF Youth Championship if they take part in the following year 470 Worlds or 470 Junior Worlds).

The goal of the Solidarity Programme is to support crews from countries with growing Olympic sailing level as well as crews with the aim of running their own Olympic sailing campaign. The Solidarity Programme is targeting potential crew interested in the challenge of competing in 470 at international level against the most famous and high competitive crews.

There are a number of sailors with a strong interest in two person dinghy Olympic competition, but due to various reasons they are not fulfilling their dreams. The Solidarity Programme would contribute in helping these sailors and their countries to overcome the obstacles they face with by offering the followings:

Equipment support: the crews admitted to the Solidarity Programme will receive free sails from Olimpic Sails® (the sole Official Sponsor of the programme) and special discounts for additional orders.
Participation at Class Championships: the 470 Internationale will support the admitted crews in paying the entry fees up to total amount of 3.000,00 Euro (to be shared among the admitted crews).
Promotional materials: the 470 Internationale will provide on request free promotional material including DVDs, pictures, etc.

For any further information on the 470 Internationale Solidarity Programme, to download the application form and the questionnaire please visit the 470 Internationale website at www.470.org or contact the 470 Internationale contact and responsible person (Miss. Marta Weores) at solidarity@470.org.
